My IP shows the network address that reached this website. Use it when you need to confirm which IPv4 or IPv6 connection the site sees before troubleshooting a client, a proxy, a firewall rule, or a location-dependent result.
What My IP Shows
The tool reports the address supplied to the application for the current request. It identifies the connection family when that information is available, then looks up the network organization, autonomous-system data, city, region, country, coordinates, and timezone from the server's local GeoLite databases.
Only the address family that reached the page can be certain. A visitor using IPv6 may have no IPv4 value in this request, and the reverse is also true. The page does not prove that every device on a home or office network uses the same public address.
Network And Location
Provider and autonomous-system fields describe the network that announces the address, not necessarily the company or person using it. Mobile networks, corporate gateways, carrier-grade NAT, VPNs, privacy relays, and reverse proxies can all make the displayed organization or country differ from the user's physical location.
City, coordinates, and timezone are reference data. They are useful for checking a broad routing or geolocation result, but they are not a street address, proof of identity, or a reliable basis for access decisions.
Map And Native Controls
When coordinates are available, the map marks the approximate position returned by the local database. Its zoom controls belong to the embedded OpenStreetMap view. Use the built-in plus and minus controls or the usual map gestures; the application does not add a second set of zoom buttons.
A map marker can be absent even when an address is known. That simply means the local database has no coordinates for that range, or the lookup did not return a usable geographic record.
Privacy And Limits
The lookup uses databases installed with Public DC Hublist and does not send the displayed address to a separate geolocation provider. The result is still request metadata: intermediaries can determine what the application receives, and forwarded headers are trusted only when the deployment has been configured to trust their sender.
Do not paste an address into a public hub chat merely to ask where it is located. Treat it as connection information and share it only with the people or support channel that need it for a specific troubleshooting task.
Missing Or Approximate Data
A blank provider, city, region, country, ASN, or map is a normal outcome for an unclassified range, a newly assigned address, private addressing, or a database record without that field. Refreshing the page will not improve a missing record unless the incoming connection itself changes.
If the address is unexpected, first check whether a VPN, proxy, relay, mobile carrier, or dual-stack preference is in use. Then compare the hostname and service path with DNS Overview, WHOIS Tool, or TCP Connect when the question concerns a public hub endpoint rather than the browser connection.
